Being a Barber is HUGE. It is a privilege. It bothers me that to many, the title of Barber connotes 'limited' rather than 'specialized' or highly-skilled. To be a barber is to be a wealth of knowledge and skill in a worthy and exciting professional field! I am not JUST a barber. WE are not JUST anything. There are passionate and professional masters among us. Hairstylists assume that we can only do a fraction of what they do because they do both men and women's hair. Fair enough. But, there are just as many stylists that do a mediocre job at both and there are certainly a few barbers who are truly amazing at what they do.

I am a hairstylist that specializes in a very specific and sexy market: Men's Image design. Why is it that hairstylists, not barbers, are the ones usually working fashion shows and photo shoots? I have done both. And I am a barber. I am sure I am not alone. I know that there are barbers doing and creating amazing and innovative things. I hope that we can set the tone for a profession that I love dearly.
