When the Meccans unjustly boycotted Prophet Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم and Banu Hashim, a document was drawn up according to which it was undertaken that no one would marry a woman of Hashim or give his daughter in marriage to a man of Hashim; and no one was to sell anything to them, or buy anything from them. This was to continue until the clan of Hashim themselves outlawed Muhammad صلي الله عليه وسلم, or they hand over Muhammed صلي الله عليه وسلم to be killed by them. No less than forty leaders of Quraysh set their seal to this agreement though not all of them were equally in favor of it. This document was solemnly placed inside the Ka'bah.Abu Talib had no choice but to take refuge in Shibe-Abi Talib along with his clan. For three years Bani Hashim suffered with extreme hunger and isolation, cries of hungry children were heard outside the valley, the squeals of hunger pangs made the hard-hearted Quraysh cheerful, though the tender folks reviled them for delighting in the sufferings of their brethren.
