Heather Downie ► Bill Taylor

Bill (William) Taylor is a researcher, performer, teacher, and recording artist of the ancient harp music of Ireland, Scotland and Wales. He is one of very few players interpreting these repertories using lyres, gut-strung medieval harps, renaissance harps with buzzing bray pins, and wire-strung clarsach. Bill is a leading authority on the Robert ap Huw manuscript and the founder and Convener of the Wire Branch of the Clarsach Society.

In this Harp Connections interview, we learn about Bill's journey from a Slide Librarian in the USA to a teacher-in-residence for Ardival Harps in the Scottish Highlands, and some wonderful insights and wisdom that Bill collected in the three decades that he has been working with harps and ancient harp music.
