The K-4386 Typhoon-VDV MRAP is one of the most heavily armed MRAP's in the world, in theory it also qualifies as an infantry fighting vehicle and an self-propelled anti-aircraft vehicle. It was designed for the Russian Airborne division and can be airdropped by the Il-76, the An-124 or the Mi-26. The vehicle has a modern fire control system that can detect and engage various types of targets at any time of the day and in any weather conditions with the role of fighting behind enemy lines and supporting infantry regiments by airdrop.
The roof is fitted with a remote controlled weapon station armed with on 30mm 2A42 auto-cannon and one PKTM 7.62mm machine gun. The 2A42 auto-cannon has dual feed ammo belts, which allows the gunner to select High Explosive Tracer munitions for soft targets, and Armor-Piercing Tracer munitions for APC's and light tanks. The gunner can also select between two firing rates of 300 to 800 rounds per minute.
The gun has an effective firing range against light armored vehicles up to 1500 m, soft targets can be engaged up to 4,000 m and it can be also used as an anti-aircraft gun with a maximum firing range of 3,000 m. The MRAP can also be equiped with two anti-tank missiles that can disable main battle tanks. The combined protection of the armored hull provides protection against small arms, artillery shell fragments and mines. The MRAP is equipped with energy-absorbing seats to protect the crew from kinectic energy from mines.
