Premium Bonds, offered by National Savings and Investments (NS&I), provide savers with the opportunity to win tax-free cash prizes up to £1 million each month. The prize rate for premium bonds is currently at its highest level since 2007, at 4%. Winners are notified via email, but the amount won is not revealed, so winners must check with NS&I to find out the exact prize amount. Winners of the monthly £1 million jackpot are visited in person by Agent Million, an individual hired by NS&I. Higher value prize winners will receive a prize claim form in the post to specify how they would like to receive their prize. To check if you have won a prize, you can use NS&I's online prize checker or the prize checker app, using your bond holder's number. NS&I also offers a tracing service for those who have lost their bond holder's number. There are currently over 2.3 million unclaimed premium bond prizes worth up to £100,000, with over £80 million in unclaimed winnings overall. While premium bonds do not pay interest and there is a risk that their value may decline over time, they offer flexibility as money can be withdrawn without penalty.
