Pulau (2023) Horror Movie Story Explained in English | Malaysian Thriller "Pulau: Witch Curse Island" Full Plot Summary with Ending Explained

The story revolves around a haunted island cursed by a witch named Molly. At the beginning, we are shown the tragic backstory of Molly. She was once an ordinary woman, but after the villagers killed her husband, she lost her sanity from grief. Devastated, Molly isolated herself in a cave where she practiced black magic. Her sorrow turned into rage, and she placed a deadly curse on the entire village, eventually transforming into a powerful witch.

Years later, a young woman named Kate, who experiences strange visions, plans a fun trip with her group of friends. Despite warnings from a local boatman who tells them, “This place is dangerous!”, they choose to ignore his advice. They bet among themselves to stay overnight on the cursed island.

As night falls, they foolishly break a sealed rope in the old village—an act that unleashes the spirit of Molly. One by one, the witch begins to hunt down and kill the group members.

Kate, however, begins to uncover the truth. She realizes that Molly’s sorrow is connected to the death of her unborn child. When Kate discovers a doll that belonged to the baby, everything becomes clear. In an emotional confrontation, Kate shows the doll to Molly and reminds her of her lost husband.

Overcome with grief and emotion, Molly begins to cry. This emotional release breaks the curse, and the time loop resets. In the end, everyone returns safely as if nothing had happened.
