Crispy Homemade Hash Browns Recipe
If you love golden, crispy, restaurant-style hash browns, you’ll be thrilled at how easy they are to make at home! With just a few simple ingredients, you can whip up this breakfast favorite in no time. Perfect on their own, or as a side to eggs, bacon, or even a hearty brunch spread.

Ingredients
2 medium potatoes
½ onion (finely chopped)
¼ cup all-purpose flour
1 large egg
Salt and pepper, to taste
Oil, for frying

Instructions
1. Prepare the Potatoes
Peel and shred the potatoes using a grater or food processor.
Place the shredded potatoes in cold water and rinse until the water runs clear—this removes excess starch for extra crispiness.
Drain well and squeeze out as much moisture as possible using a clean dish towel or salad spinner.
2. Mix the Batter
In a large mixing bowl, combine shredded potatoes, chopped onion, flour, egg, salt, and pepper.
Stir well until everything is evenly coated.
3. Fry the Hash Browns
Heat oil in a heavy skillet over medium-high heat until sizzling.
Spoon the potato mixture into the skillet, shaping small pancakes or one large hash brown.
Cook each side for about 5 minutes or until golden brown and crispy. Avoid flipping too early—let the crust form first!
4. Drain & Serve
Transfer cooked hash browns to a plate lined with paper towels to remove excess oil.
