Hiroshi Yoshida (1876–1950) was a famous Japanese artist known for his woodblock prints and his unique style that blended traditional Japanese art with Western realism. In 1930–1931, Yoshida traveled across India with his son, Tōshi Yoshida. Over four months, they explored cities like Delhi, Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi, and Madurai. The rich colors, grand architecture, and vibrant atmosphere of India deeply inspired him. Yoshida made several sketches during this trip, which later became part of his beautiful woodblock print series capturing the essence of India.
