For over 50 years, Cranfills Gap has hosted an authentic Norwegian Lutefisk Dinner on the first Saturday of December.

This dinner is THE major fundraiser for the school each year, with over a quarter of a million dollars raised (so far) over the years to go toward athletic uniforms and equipment, classroom supplies, playground equipment, and much more.

The students, staff and teachers, parents, and community members come together one a year to put on this event, which includes pre-dinner entertainment with the elementary students demonstrating traditional Norwegian dances, vendors selling Norwegian wares, and of course, the meal!

Students, staff/teachers, and other volunteers spend weeks before the event preparing the fish, decorating the school for Christmas, washing dishes, learning Norwegian folk dances, and getting ready for the big day! The cheery holiday atmosphere will be sure to put a smile on your face.

The "sit down, family-style" meal consists of Lutefisk and creamy white sauce, turkey and dressing, homemade bread, potatoes, green beans, and all the fixin's. There's also sweet tea and hot coffee with homemade pie!

It's definitely worth the drive to the country.
