How to Tint Glass Dollar Tree DIY

Описание к видео How to Tint Glass Dollar Tree DIY

Hi everyone. I had so much fun trying my hand this week at tinting glass. A few years ago I saw someone tint a mason jar orange and turn it into a pumpkin/jack-o-lantern, with a candle inside. I've been wanting to try to tint glass ever since, but never got around to it. I had some jars I've been wanting to upcycle, with some other decorative jars that I picked up at Dollar Tree. So I figured now would be a good time to finally try this craft. The colors were interesting. Mixing the food coloring in the white Mod Podge you get a very unique looking color, and the color it ends up can look very different than expected. One of the jars I did looked blue at first, then after it was baked and dried it ended up looking more of a dark purple color.. No worries though. My first time making a jar it was a mess. I didn't let it drain long enough and it was a gloppy mess... I just let it cool and then I was able to peel it off fairly easily, though the bottom of the jar was a little harder to get it all out, but I managed... so if you do mess up, it's not the end of the world. Let it cool and start peeling. It also helps if you have a sharp edge like the end of a pair of scissors to lift up the edge to get it started..... anyway I really had a lot of fun tinting the glass and can't wait to experiment more with this technique. I hope you will try it yourself. It really is a lot of fun!
Just a very quick warning however.... Do NOT use the jars to store any food or drink once you've tinted them with Mod Podge. I am pretty sure everyone knows that but figured I'd put it here just in case :)
Thanks so much for watching!
Check back tomorrow to see what's new this week at Dollar Tree!
