About the panel facilitator:

Nancy Carter has been in the IT industry since the days of Macromedia Flash, developing websites with tables and entering "JavaScript:'' into Netscape Navigator to debug why something isn't working in a browser.

Nancy’s experience has been across many domains ranging from video games to software that helps power over $1 trillion in mortgage lending decisions. Each new industry I've worked in has helped me grow different skill sets and perspectives of thinking outside of the box.

Nancy is currently the QA Manager at Valocity Limited working with 18 talented QA Test Analysts across multiple projects. She loves a sense of humour and always looking at putting a positive spin on any situation (where possible).

In her free time, Nancy enjoys crocheting and going for walks to the ocean.


About the panellists:

Mike Talks first learned to program in 1982, going on to learn how to test five minutes later when they hit run. They are a Technical Product Owner for Testing at TAB NZ, where they work to create strategy and help people develop in their careers.
Mike was a contributor and reviewer for Lisa Crispin and Janet Gregory's book More Agile Testing, as well as having their own book "How To Test" available on LeanPub for free!

Justine Denize started her IT career 25 years ago as a Business Analyst for IBM. Recognising the opportunities and variety that testing could provide, she moved into the QA space and spent 10 years delivering projects across various industries.
She joined Assurity in 2012 as a Senior Test Consultant, and in 2014 she got the opportunity to join the Assurity Leadership team as a Practice Manager for Testing. She has since held various roles including People Leadership and now head of the Client Delivery Engagement team.
Justine is a passionate advocate for all things Testing, and the opportunities a career in testing can bring.

Venkat is part of the leadership team at Fire and Emergency, working as the Practice Manager -Testing and Assurance. Venkat has worked across India, Canada and now calls this coolest capital in the world, Wellington, his home. Venkat has been in the software industry for over 18 years, and in the testing industry for over 12 years. Venkat has worked for a number of organisations across the world helping them reboot and optimise their Quality and Testing Management functions & capabilities. He is particularly known for setting up testing capabilities & practices from scratch.
Venkat is always on the lookout for emerging technologies, tools, trends and fads, and tries to keep up with the constantly changing tech landscape. He does not shy away from getting his hands dirty from time to time because he believes that it is important for leaders to get an understanding of the underlying tech, process and people capability to be able to successfully enable and create high performing teams that deliver value. Venkat is extremely passionate about people management, and of late has been exploring effective leadership techniques and practices, in pursuit of that magical ‘secret’ ingredient.

Manil Kapoor has been working in the testing industry for more than a decade and a half. He has worked with multiple clients in India and NZ across multiple testing stacks.
His motto is "If there is no pain in your job, then no gain" (obviously talking about technical pain).
Outside work, he works as a test automation trainer with Industry Connect, training and mentoring folks towards their dream careers in Testing. He’s also the Co-Organiser of the biggest test Meetup Group across NZ: Ministry Of Testing.
