Isles of Scilly Tresco + Tresco Abbey Gardens

Описание к видео Isles of Scilly Tresco + Tresco Abbey Gardens

Today we took another boat with the St Mary's Boatmen's Association across to the Isles of Scilly island of Tresco. This was the island I was most excited to visit when planning the trip, mostly due to the stunning Tresco Abbey Garden (as I love a good garden to wander through and gawp at), but we quickly discovered that the island has much more to offer than just Tresco Gardens. As a cruise ship's passengers were visiting in the morning, we chose to save the gardens for the afternoon and instead explored the island on foot, making our way up to the Ruin Beach Café Tresco (Ruin Beach Cafe Tresco?), where we ate a delicious lunch consisting of fresh, locally caught seafood, sat amongst a ruined building, overlooking a white sand beach. After lunch, we kept exploring on foot, passing the popular The New Inn Tresco (we were very torn on where to eat lunch!) and we came across the golden pheasant bird, known to reside on Tresco island though truth be told, I thought we'd need to be in the paid for gardens to see it, but no, it was just wandering along the public footpath! Once we got into the Tresco Garden, we were greeted by red squirrels - a wild animal I've been eager to spot for years with little success, yet in Tresco Abbey Garden there were LOADS! We had a nosey around the Valhalla museum - home to a number of figureheads from old ships that became shipwrecked around the Scilly Isles and generally took in the sub tropical paradise, despite our visit to the Isles of Scilly in SPRING! After leaving the gardens, we walked by Apple Tree Bay, yet another one of the Isles of Scilly beaches with white sand and turquoise waters. We overshot Old Grimsby Quay where the ferry was due to pick us up so we could have a quick peek at Braiden Rock - with its steps cut out so secret agents during the second world war could board onto Bretton fishing boats, so they could infiltrate into France. If visiting on an Isles of Scilly holiday and you enjoy gardens, Tresco Island is a must visit!
