In this video, we visit Siri Wattana Market, also known as Tha-nin Market, in the bustling suburb of Santitham in Chiang Mai. At this market, you can find literally everything - from fresh market staples like a butcher, fruits, vegetables, and religious offerings, to street food, clothing, banks, and pharmacies - these local fresh markets pop up all over every city and town in Thailand.
On top of this, most will have a sit down food court area with plenty of vendors ready to serve you classic thai dishes, coffees, drinks, at all times of the day and night.
You simply MUST visit one of these markets during your time in Thailand - not only is it a peek into the life of local life in Thailand, but it gives a great value lunch and day out for anyone visiting the area.
Located in Santitham, I also briefly overview a suburb that goes under the radar in Chiang Mai - with Nimman taking up much of the traveller scene, Santitham is close by, undeniably local and authentic, but still full of start ups, cafes, restaurants, and a bustling main street with not one, but TWO street food areas - if only it had some more accommodation options, I think it would be my favourite place to stay in all of Chiang Mai!
