Between 2004 to 2014, 196 first responders completed suicide in Colorado alone. Three first responders completed suicide (that we know of) during the production of this film. We have to do more. Take a minute to ask someone if they are OK. Don't be afraid to ask your colleagues, friends or family members the question, "Are you thinking about killing yourself?" If the answer is yes, please help them to connect with crisis support services immediately. Additionally, any Colorado first responder can text "BADGE" to 741741 for free, immediate, anonymous assistance.

Lifelines - Suicide Awareness is the first of a six-part series. The series' overall goal is to normalize the mental wellness challenges experienced by our First Responders and to instill a sense of hope within them and their families that prevention and recovery are possible. The feature documentary and remaining four short films will address PTSD, Burnout, Children of First Responders, and Leadership.
