2025 Indian Premier League

Indian Premier League 2025 (also known as IPL 18 and branded as TATA IPL 2025) will the 18th edition of the Indian Premier League, a franchise Twenty20 cricket league in India, organized by the Board of Control for Cricket in India. The tournament will feature ten teams competing in 84 matches. It will be held across 13 cities in India, with Kolkata hosting the opening ceremony and the final. Kolkata Knight Riders are the defending champions, having won their third title during the previous season after beating Sunrisers Hyderabad.

IPL franchises have until November 15 to confirm retentions, RTM to return in 2025 mega auction.

Right to Match (RTM) cards are expected to make a return as well. They haven’t been since the mega auction in 2018. Back then, a maximum of 5 players were allowed to be retained by each franchise, with not more than 3 players being bought back using the RTM. If it indeed makes a comeback, we could have multiple variations for player retention in the IPL 2025 mega auction.
