Otter Tail Valley Railroad: High Hood GP9 and GP18 Locomotives on Jointed Rail!

This presentation takes us back to 2007 in West Central Minnesota to see the operations of the Otter Tail Valley Railroad. Owned at the time by RailAmerica, this railroad was well known for its use of high hood EMD “geeps”. The two featured in our video are MNN 1483, which is an ex Nickel Plate GP9, and OTVR 192, which is a former Southern Railway GP18. Both are painted in the attractive silver, red, and blue RailAmerica paint scheme. C. Vision covers operations on the entire length of Otter Tail Valley’s mainline from Fergus Falls to Moorhead, Minnesota. We catch the train cruising the high iron, working local industries, and interchanging freight with the BNSF in Dilworth, Minnesota. We will also get a chance to watch a few BNSF trains while the OTVR crew completes their interchange work in Dilworth.
