"A rose by any other name would smell as sweet"--Shakespeare, Romeo and Juliet

I have had a number of questions about the name change and so I want to share more about what is in my heart and the reason for the switch...

For all of you who have followed me, you know that I have spent the better part of the last four years working non-stop on my music, while going to school…

Through these years there have been many ups and downs, growing, changing, and searching to find myself…

As with all changing things, transitions and goodbyes have never been my strong suit, yet life brought those upon me far more frequently than I was comfortable with.

So I figured I could get lost during those times, or I could completely submerge myself into my music…

I’m pretty sure that every milestone, heartbreak, love, or loss in my life has resulted in me writing a song—sometimes on the piano, sometimes over a beat track, sometimes with production, sometimes a capella..

Some of these were piano covers that I posted on Youtube or Facebook—and many were recordings of ideas or emotions too personal to share…

Music became and has been my go to, my way to process, communicate, express myself, connect. And I know that it is time to share the music I have been creating.

So that brings me to the reason for this post: as you all know, my full name is Daisy Grace Vardell. I am and will always be Grace. But through my work in the studio, my original work being released very soon, and maturing into a whole new person the last couple of years, I have gone back to Daisy—what my family and close friends called me when I was little..

When I looked at my body of work and saw myself back through the eyes of my songs and lyrics, this felt so much more right to me..

Daisy was my great grandmother’s name, who was born in the Art Deco period, a period that I connect to and love and that I feel prominently in my new music.

Gray is simply Grace cut shorter. This is more appropriate for my new music, which feels timelessly intricate and maintains a sense of innocence like Daisy—but is also haunting, sensual, and grungy like Gray.

So for those who might be curious as to why you see a new name on all of my social media and my original music, this is what’s behind it all.

My songs are glimpses into my life journey and will evolve and grow as I do.

Please stick with me as I transition over and start releasing my original songs as Daisy Gray!!!!!
