RWBY (pronounced "Ruby") is an American anime-styled animated web series and media franchise created by Monty Oum for Rooster Teeth. It is set in the fictional world of Remnant, where young people train to become warriors (called "Huntsmen" and "Huntresses") to protect their world from monsters called Grimm. The name RWBY is derived from the four main characters' forenames: Ruby, Weiss, Blake and Yang, as well as their associated theme colors; Red, White, Black and Yellow, and their combined team name: Team RWBY.

"A Cat Most Curious" - Team RWBY join up with the Curious Cat and, in return for hearing about Remnant and Team RWBY's adventures, the Cat agrees to help undo the Red Prince's shrinking spell. Reaching a garden-like acre, the group lose track of the Cat but meet the caterpillar-like Herbalist, who engulfs them in an incense smoke-cloud where they are individually confronted by past versions of themselves. Weiss, Blake and Yang stand firm and refuse the vision's offers to change who they are, but Ruby falters when reminded of both her and her mother’s failures to stop Salem. The Cat arrives to break Team RWBY from their trances and, after helping the Herbalist remember their purpose, the Herbalist vanishes into a hole that opens up beneath it.

Ruby Rose is the main protagonist of RWBY. She is a Huntress, having been trained at the now-defunct Beacon Academy. Ruby's weapon of choice is her High-Caliber Sniper-Scythe known as Crescent Rose, which she designed herself.
Ruby first appeared in the "Red" Trailer visiting the grave of her mother, Summer Rose. After an invitation from Professor Ozpin following a short battle with Roman Torchwick, Ruby attends Beacon Academy in order to become a Huntress. During her time at Beacon, Ruby became a member and the leader of Team RWBY, consisting of herself, Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna, and her own elder half-sister, Yang Xiao Long.
However, following the Fall of Beacon, Ruby travels to Haven Academy as a member of Team RNJR with the remaining members of Team JNPR. After the Battle of Haven, Team RWBY is reunited again and they continue to participate in the war against Salem and her forces.
Following a battle with Neopolitan in the Central Location, Ruby was dropped into the void by Cinder Fall, and ended up in what appears to be a beach-like dimension.

Weiss Schnee is one of the main protagonists of RWBY. She is a Huntress, a former student of the now-defunct Beacon Academy, and former heiress of the Schnee Dust Company. Her weapon of choice is a Multi-Action Dust Rapier (MADR) named Myrtenaster.
As the former heiress of the vastly influential Schnee Dust Company, Weiss made her first appearance in the "White" Trailer. After enrolling in Beacon against the wishes of her father, Jacques Schnee, she becomes a member of Team RWBY alongside Ruby Rose, Blake Belladonna and Yang Xiao Long. She is the younger sister of Winter Schnee and the older sister of Whitley Schnee.
Following a lengthy battle against Cinder Fall, Weiss was blasted off of a platform and into the void under the Central Location.

Blake Belladonna is one of the main protagonists of RWBY. She is a Huntress, having been trained at the now-defunct Beacon Academy. Her weapon of choice is a Variant Ballistic Chain Scythe (VBCS) named Gambol Shroud.
She first appeared in the "Black" Trailer alongside Adam Taurus, her partner and mentor in the White Fang, a Faunus terrorist group. After leaving the organization, Blake enrolled at the now-defunct Beacon Academy, where she became a member of Team RWBY alongside Ruby Rose, Weiss Schnee and Yang Xiao Long.
She is also the daughter of Ghira Belladonna, the current chieftain of Menagerie and his wife Kali Belladonna.
In "The Final Word", she was dropped into the void under the Central Location by Cinder Fall, while trying to save Ruby from the same fate, later finding herself in the Ever After.

Yang Xiao Long is one of the protagonists of RWBY. She is a Huntress, having been trained at the now-defunct Beacon Academy. Her weapon of choice are a pair of Dual Ranged Shot Gauntlets, Ember Celica.
She made her first appearance in the "Yellow" Trailer, searching for clues regarding the whereabouts of her mother, Raven Branwen, who left her when she was a child. From Volume 1, Yang became a member of Team RWBY alongside Weiss Schnee, Blake Belladonna and her younger half-sister Ruby Rose.
In "Worthy", Yang takes a hit meant for her sister from Neopolitan in the Central Location, falling into the void as a result.
