UK and Germany Sign Historic Kensington Treaty to Strengthen Ties and Security

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and German Chancellor Friedrich Merz have signed the Kensington Treaty, marking the first major bilateral agreement between the UK and Germany. Announced during a joint press conference at Airbus in Stevenage, the treaty includes 17 key projects aimed at boosting defense collaboration, economic ties, scientific innovation, and efforts to tackle illegal migration. Starmer highlighted new investment initiatives worth over £200 million and enhanced cooperation to support Ukraine and address humanitarian crises. The leaders emphasized that the treaty is designed to directly benefit working people and to bolster European security in partnership with NATO.
