Summarizing YouTube videos with artificial intelligence:
I'm going to show you how to use the artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities of Google Bard and Microsoft Bing Chat to generate summaries of transcripts of YouTube videos.

Today, I came across an interesting YouTube video titled "How CEOs Need to Learn." I wanted to know the answer to this question, but the video is 49 minutes long. I didn't feel like watching the entire video today, but I still wanted to know the lessons contained in it. I decided to use AI to experiment and try to achieve this goal of digesting the YouTube video quickly.

First, I extracted the transcript text from the YouTube video. Then, I used the AI capabilities of Google Bard and Microsoft Bing Chat to generate summaries. I got good results by going through this process. I was able to generate a one-word summary for this video: mind map.

A mind map is a picture representation of information with keywords and connections. Another good one-word summary of this video is schema. Schema is a diagrammatic presentation, a structured framework, plan, or outline. It's a mental codification that includes an organized way of perceiving, cognitively, and responding to a complex situation.

Another way I would summarize this video is keywords in context. I was able to generate these crystallized summaries using AI and not actually watching the video.

Another key takeaway is that three is the magic number. The brain likes to organize information in groups of three or less. I was very satisfied with this experiment.

In the remainder of this video, I'm going to show you how I did it.

How to generate summaries using AI

Go to the YouTube video and click the three dots in the row right underneath the title.
Select "Show transcript."
Remove the timestamps by selecting "Toggle timestamps."
Copy the text in the transcript box.
Input the text into the AI prompt box.
Add the following command to the prompt: "using bullet points, summarize the following in less than 300 words."
Generate the summary.
Handling long transcripts

If the transcript is long, you can process it in batches. Find out the character cap for the AI prompt box. Figure out how many pages that correlates with. Then, copy and paste the transcript into the prompt box in batches.

Using Google Bard and Microsoft Bing Chat:

Google Bard and Microsoft Bing Chat are both large language models that can generate summaries of text. I found that both models produced good results, but I preferred using Google Bard for summarizing long transcripts.

I was able to generate summaries of YouTube video transcripts using the AI capabilities of Google Bard and Microsoft Bing Chat. This process allowed me to quickly digest the information in a video without having to watch the entire video.
