Today - March 23, 2023 - was nothing short of a miracle. While subbing 6th grade at Killybrooke Elementary, Denise Dador of ABC7 texts me out of the blue. INSANELY LONG STORY SHORT, we settled on a Zoom interview at 3:40pm. Around 5:35pm, it aired on ABC7. I am exceedingly thankful as it is my passion to spread awareness and acceptance. I was already contacted on Instagram by a fellow SoCal citizen who said that she was inspired by the amazing interview. Friends took to Facebook saying that they saw me on the Channel 7 News. There were a lot more I said, but for time sake, this is what they played. I'm incredibly thankful for this phenomenal opportunity. (There was only one tiny thing. I'm not a sixth grade teacher; I was subbing sixth grade today; tomorrow, I'm subbing 5th grade at Eastbluff, which was shown in one of the pictures they showed of me.)
Interestingly enough, three years ago this time - on March 26, 2020 - the CDC said that the prevalence was 1 in 54 Children Diagnosed with Autism, but now, is 1 in 36. I am definitely a proponent of Early Intervention, as I don't know where I'd be today had I not had it.
