🎀 Today’s Virtue: CHEER
The virtue of cheer is the quiet strength of choosing light in ordinary moments. It is not loud happiness or forced positivity. It does not deny pain or pretend everything is fine. Cheer is a settled disposition of the heart that says, “even here, I will carry warmth.”

Cheer is hope made visible.

It appears as a gentle smile offered without agenda, encouragement given when silence would be easier, a tone that calms rather than sharpens, and a presence that lifts a room simply by being in it.

Cheer does not ignore suffering. It walks beside it and says, “I see what you’re carrying, and I won’t add to it.”

One of the most misunderstood truths about cheer is that it often costs something. It requires intention, humility, and restraint. It is easy when life is generous. It is virtuous when life is heavy.

True cheer is other-focused. Less about how we feel and more about how others feel in our presence. In many ways, cheer is love in its most accessible form. Not everyone can fix a problem or offer answers, but everyone can offer cheer.

→ A warm word
→ A light moment
→ A steady, hopeful spirit

Like a candle in winter, cheer does not need to overpower the darkness. It only needs to be present. That is why it endures and lingers long after words are forgotten.

Cheer is not shallow joy.
It is faith wearing a smile. 🎀🤍

🎀 Today’s Christmas Story
🎄Christmas Wreaths: Circles of Eternity ♾

Long before Christmas, wreaths appeared in ancient cultures. Greeks and Romans used circular garlands of laurel or olive to symbolize victory, honor, and enduring life. With no beginning and no end, the circle came to represent eternity. During winter solstice festivals like Saturnalia, evergreens were exchanged as signs that light and life would return after the darkest days. ✨🌿

Germanic and Celtic peoples carried this meaning into Yule, weaving pine, holly, and ivy into unbroken circles to symbolize life that survives winter, protection, and renewal. The ring reflected the enduring rhythm of creation. ❄️🌲

When Christianity spread through Europe, it did not discard the symbol. It redeemed it. ✝️

By the 16th century, German Christians began using evergreen wreaths during Advent. The circle came to reflect God’s eternal nature, His unbroken promises, and the everlasting life offered through Christ. Evergreens reinforced this truth, remaining alive when all else appeared dead. 🤍

The Advent wreath deepened the meaning. Four candles marked the weeks of waiting, reminding believers that Christ’s coming was not sudden, but part of an eternal plan unfolding in time.
🕯️🕯️🕯️🕯️

Hanging a wreath on the door became more than decoration. It became a quiet confession of hope and cheer. A sign of life beyond winter, light beyond darkness, and love without end. 🏡✨

🎀Fun Facts That Bring the Story Full Circle⭕️

🏛️From Victory to Welcome
Ancient laurel wreaths crowned Olympic champions and heroes, then later appeared on doors as symbols of honor and welcome.

🛞Born from a Cart Wheel
The modern Advent wreath dates to 1839, when German pastor Johann Hinrich Wichern used a wagon wheel with candles to help children count the days to Christmas.

🌲Nothing Wasted
As Christmas trees became popular indoors, leftover branches were woven into wreaths rather than thrown away.

🌿Twisted with Meaning
The word wreath comes from the Old English writhen, meaning “to twist.” Holly adds symbolism too, with red berries recalling Christ’s sacrifice and prickly leaves the crown of thorns.
At its heart, the Christmas wreath teaches one simple truth:

God has no beginning and no end. ♾✝️
His love does not break. 🤍
And those held in Christ are gathered into that same eternal circle. 🎄⭕️

🌿🎀🌿🎀🌿❤️🌿🎀🌿🎀🌿
🎶Enjoy Christmas Wreath by Ashley Hutchings and my loyal companion Tank 🐾, reminding us that joy lives within, and cheer is what we give, so wag a little cheer into the season. 🎄✨

🌿🎀 Have A Fantastic Friday! 🎀🌿
