Описание к видео IIM Students Visit Nalanda | India’s Oldest University Was Unreal!

We often talk about Western universities and global education, but forget that India itself was home to the world’s first residential university.
In Semester 2, as part of our Heritage Studies class, our professor took us on a college trip to Nalanda University, a place most of us had only read about—but never truly understood.

It’s honestly shameful yet eye-opening that many of us don’t know the depth of our own heritage. Nalanda isn’t just a tourist spot—it is proof that India led the world in education centuries ago. This trip was our attempt to reconnect with that forgotten legacy and uncover the hidden gems of our own country.

The journey was around 2.5 hours (~300 km) from our college, but every minute was worth it. With the help of an official Archaeological Survey guide, and even the Director present, we learned fascinating stories about Nalanda’s rise, its global influence, and its tragic destruction. Walking through the ruins made history feel alive.

Beyond history, the day became even more special with a guidance session by Tejas Bhaiya, from the first batch of IPM, who later completed his Master’s from Duke University and is now working as an Investment Banker.
His insights on careers, finance, higher education, and real-world decision-making were incredibly valuable. Asking him questions and learning from his journey was one of the highlights of the trip.
