Night Rites performing "Codrone" live from their studio in Adelaide, South Australia. The song is off their upcoming debut album Nine of Swords which is set for release later this year through Little Cloud Records (Oregon, USA) and Cardinal Fuzz (Yorkshire, England).

This release Space Haze EP provides a peek at what's to come through a side step from the norm. Featuring one of the album’s tracks, Codrone, in two alternate guises: a live version and remix dubbed the Space Haze Version.

Following the album recording sessions the band felt that there was more to uncover in this song, and set about experimenting with new sounds and equipment they had stockpiled in the studio to create something outside the themes afforded by the album.

“We made something that we thought was cool; most of this mix was a happy accident. Grabbing parts of the original, we stripped it back, slowed it down, drenched vocals in reverse reverb, and added some more weirdo instruments we use live or had in the studio. The live version is noisy and always on the edge of chaos, but we flipped it around and pulled the song apart until it was the same but not the same.”

Around the same time, the live version was recorded and produced as a video to showcase the band’s live energy, which consists of high volume, dense layers of noise and a raw knife’s-edge approach to performing. Putting this together with the remix highlights the contrast between versions and gives listeners a chance to gaze on two sides of a coin.
