Welcome to Ms. Connie’s Pre-K Corner! Today, we re reading The Mixed Up Chameleon by the genius Eric Carle! One of my personal Favorites!! This is a delightful story about a chameleon who wishes he could be like all the other animals in the zoo. But when his wishes, he learns an important lesson about being himself! My hope is that when preschoolers hear the story they will learn to love & appreciate themselves just as they are-unique, with special gifts, traits and abilities & imperfections. After the story, stick around for some exciting activities that will help you help your preschooler/s Explore colors, creative and self expression.

Suggested activities for after the video :
1. Chameleon color match: create a chameleon template on card stock or paper. Provide children with different colored markers or crayons. Encourage them to color their chameleon to match their surroundings or their favorite color.

2. Animal mix up craft:
Use magazines or printed animal pictures. Have preschoolers, cut out different animal, parts, heads legs, tails, etc., and mix them up to create their own mixed up animal collage. How the chameleon felt when it tried to be like all the other animals.

3. Personal identity discussion:
Discuss how each of us young or old is special. God has created each one of us as unique individuals by design and has a wonderful plan and purpose for each of us.
