Описание к видео Nemesis (Gradius) (Arcade)

Released in arcades in 1985 by Konami, Nemesis was another 1980s arcade game that, depending on where it was released, has slight but notable differences between versions and regions. The game was released under its proper title, "Gradius", in Japan but the name was changed to Nemesis for the US and Europe. The plot is the same in both though-the player pilots an advanced starfighter called Vic Viper to try and locate, and ultimately destroy, an ancient civilization amidst an armada of giant spaceships.
The game introduced a unique powerup selection system that became a trademark of the franchise-defeating orange-colored enemies would make orange capsules appear (sometimes blue instead, which instantly wipes out all enemies on the screen). Collecting one lights up the first box on the bottom of the screen if you don't have any available, or scrolls it to the next box if you do. When the powerup you want is highlighted-Speed Up, Missile, Double, Laser, Multiple, ?, you can press the activate button to get it. Speed Up can be used up to 5 times, Double and Laser can't be used together, you can have up to 4 Multiples (they mimic your movement on a slight delay and also duplicate your weapons) and ? triggers a shield in front of you that absorbs several hits (it doesn't protect your rear or top/bottom).
The notable differences between the two versions that I know of are as follows:
1-Nemesis has a much shorter boot/startup sequence than Gradius (the latter's runs 2-3 minutes) and much shorter startup/respawn times.
2-In Nemesis, when you respawn after losing a life the screen is full of enemies who will drop powerups, which does not happen in Gradius.
3-In Nemesis the 5th powerup is called "Multiple" but in Gradius it's called "Option".
4-The background graphics on the title/insert coin screen in Nemesis are removed in Gradius, and the Gradius logo loads slowly (like it's coming from an old printer).
5-In Gradius you may get to see the end credits when you clear the final stage, but in Nemesis you just get kicked back to start for the second loop, which is bullet hell levels of difficult. The game loops endlessly so I stopped playing after finishing the first loop.

When the game was released for the NES in 1989, the name was officially changed to Gradius outside Japan, although Konami went through similar with the sequel in arcades, which is called "Gradius 2-Gofer No Yabuki" in Japan but elsewhere it was called "Vulcan Venture". Beyond that and different insert coin screens, it's essentially the same game.
