Generally grade crossings with this number of gates will have 4 target warning lights. But that is not always the case. Exit gates may be added on small low vehicular traffic crossings where history has shown that people are prone to drive around the entrance gate when it is closed.

Opening the exit gates first also takes into account the propensity of drivers to rush when the entrance gate opens and crash through a closed exit gate. It can be viewed as more of a way for the railroads to save repair bills than a driver safety issue.

Some of these crossings also have attached pedestrian crossing gates. Because of the complexity of the actuating mechanism, modeling one of these is best done with the use of a 3d printer.
