Daytime market: open daily 8:00 AM – 6:00 PM, Retail and wholesale.

(shops are gradually close from 4:00 PM – 6:00 PM., some shops close on Monday, crowded people on Sat-Sun)

Sampeng Market is mainly focuses on wholesale. Some stores do not sell at retail prices at all, while many stores sell at high retail prices, but when you buy up to 3,6,12 pieces, it will be much cheaper because you will immediately get a wholesale price. Problem of the wholesale is… Who wants to buy 6 bags at a time? or buy same shoes for all sizes? Fortunately, many stores are flexible by allowing customers to mix with other items in the store. For example, buying any 12 pieces of jewelry in store to get THB10 each instead of THB20.
As you see in video, walking along Sampeng is not as comfortable as in shopping malls. Sampeng have crowded people, sweltering weather, not easy to find toilet, and many of sellers are not flexible with a small customer like us.
However, with the cheap wholesale price and diverse of products such as stationeries, collectibles, toys, clothes, accessories, or dry food. Sampeng is always be one of the most popular shopping destinations in Bangkok for both local and tourist.

Money: Better prepare enough cash coz many shops not accept credit cards and it is not easy to find an ATM.

Transportation : take the MRT (subway) blueline to Wat-Mangkon station, or take boat from Chao-Praya river to Ratchawong pier.
