In this lecture we will explore the labeling theory also known as Social Reaction Theory . This was published in book "outsider" which was written by Howard Becker . This theory basically explain that people become deviant and criminal because of social reaction or labeling. according to this theory people that commit deviant act for the first time unintentionally is called primary deviance and the deviant act performed by a person after labeling is called secondary deviance and this concept of primary and secondary was given by Edwin Lemert.
