Supa dam located on Kali river at a small town Ganeshgudi is one of the top places to visit in Dandeli. It is in the state of Karnataka in India. Water releasing from the gates of the dam near Dandeli is a sight to behold.
The water level of Karnataka’s second largest dam at Ganeshgudi has reached its maximum storage capacity of 145 tmc. Gates (shutters) were opened for the second time in this month and the tourists had a great time. The water releasing scene from the Supa dam was mesmerizing and many tourists had gathered to witness the same. The gates of the dam were opened after a decade.
Supa dam was used as a backdrop in the famous Kannada movie "Dharani Mandala Madhyadolage" directed by Puttanna Kanagal. The Kali river serpenting through the quiet forests of Dandeli offers a mesmerizing view to tourists who visit the dam.

The Kali river or Kali nadi has 5 major dams on its stretch of 184 km before the river unites with the Arabian Sea near Karwar in Uttara Kannada district. The vast backwaters of the dam is a sight to behold. Stretching endlessly like an ocean, this dam submerged more than 24 villages and hundreds of hectares of forests. The water release from the dam at Ganeshgudi is an added and was a major tourist attraction this season. Dandeli also offers the best whitewater rafting in India. Also, the dam backwaters offer boating, canoeing, kayaking, swimming, fishing, and other water sports activities.

Apart from the dam, Syntheri rocks, Kavala caves, Ulvi Caves, Kulgi nature camp are the other nearby places to visit in Dandeli for the tourists visiting Dandeli.
