Fred Leone

Fred Leone is one of the Butchulla Song Men and has travelled the world singing in Butchulla language for the past several years. His passion for traditional dance started at the age of six at Primary School and also from watching his older brothers Wayne and Jason Sandy who founded the Munujali Yugambeh Dance Group after initially dancing in Imbala and Nunukul. But it wasn’t until the early 1990’s when he realised the power of song and dance to transform his life. Performing with Ngali Yibru, a dance group he joined while attending St James (Prac) College in Brisbane. Fred continues to advance the role and movement of traditional dance in South East Queensland to this day.
