Probably one of the best games from both teams in the 1994 strike season and proves Montreal had the best record in MLB before the strike threw a wrench into any post season chances in 1994 which was inevitable.
Starting pitchers Tom Glavine for visiting Atlanta and Kirk Rueter for home Montreal. Games goes back n forth throughout, with Atlanta taking an early lead in the top of the 1st on back to back RBI doubles from 1B Fred McGriff and RF David Justice. Montreal take over in the 2nd scoring 2 runs giving them the 3-2 lead after 2 innings which doesn't last as the Braves pick up 3 runs in the 3rd after a bases loaded wild pitch from Rueter as Montreal manager Felipe Alou brings in right-hand reliever Gil Heredia to pitch to C Charlie O'Brien who knocks in a 3rd run on a sac fly RBI. Braves have 6-3 lead going into the home half of the 8th inning as the Expos tie the game scoring 3 runs as right-hander Mike Stanton comes in to relive Glavine who goes 7 innings giving up 3 runs on 8 hits, striking out 5 and walking none. Stanton gives up a 2-run HR to SS Wil Cordero and replaced by rhp Greg McMichael who gives up an RBI double to Mike Lansing as the Braves relievers blow the lead. PH Ryan Klesko hits another tie breaking HR off Mel Rojas in the 9th looks like a win for the Braves as Steve Bedrosian comes in to make a rare relief appearance for the 9th inning. but game hitting star Will Cordero comes through again with a walk off RBI single scoring Moises Alou from third giving the Expos the dramatic 8-7 win as the Expos look to sweep the 3 game series. Mel Rojas with the win (3-2) and Steve Bedrosian with the loss (0-1)
