There are lots of waterfalls of different sizes in Chapada Diamantina National Park (located in the state of Bahia). Some waterfalls require a tour guide and a rigorous hike. We found 3 waterfalls (with the help of locals) easy to get to with the kids. None of them were more than a 15 minute hike from the car. We had a lot of fun exploring this national park and the cute little towns.
The dark coloration of the water is due to decomposing organic matter from the rocky soil. Despite the color the water is very clean. Video 24
