Piran is a resort city on Slovenia’s Adriatic coast, known for its long pier and Venetian architecture. The town is known for its medieval architecture, with narrow streets and compact houses. Until the mid-20th century, Italian was the dominant language, but it was replaced by Slovene as demographics shifted. Square is flanked by the Gothic red Venetian House and the frescoed Tartini House. The latter is the birthplace of violinist Giuseppe Tartini. Tourist Guide, Slovenian Coast.
