Nice weather but pretty cold. Richard came over to help again so we got a lot done. The camera battery died before the end of the day, but basically the loft floor is now complete and I also made up the posts for the ridge beam plus cut a template rafter just before the light faded.

The subfloor for the loft slightly overlaps the top plate so the rafters for the roof over the loft will have double bird's mouth cuts. This actually gives them better seating than they would have had otherwise because the pitch is 45 degrees and the seat is pretty short to avoid notching too much of the rafter. Of course actually having both seats touch together requires some precision in the rafter cutting... time will tell how well that works out.

The 2x12s I have for the ridge beam are a little short to meet properly over the central post, so I have to wait for 16 footers before I can make the ridge beam. This also lets me bring the ridge out for the gable overhang and not have to fully ladder frame the ends. I ordered the shear sheathing and building wrap and some additional 2x6x16s for the west-end work platform. Tomorrow I will probably get the posts placed, maybe build a ladder/steep stairs for the loft. Can't really finish the gable frame until I know the exact depth of the ridge beam.
