Nøkkevatnet Official video

"NØKKEVATNET" was released November 14, 2022 as part of a six song EP by Anette Aga. This video is dedicated to Ingrid Hope who passed away last year.

The lyrics of Nøkkevatnet are a poetic warning for children regarding the well on the old Holen farm, at Takvam outside of Bergen , Norway.
The well's water comes from a hole in the rocks right above the well. The water source is located on the mountains above.
The kids on the farm were told not to lean over the edge of the well or put their hands into it.
No one knows how deep the well is, the water looks pitch black.
So the nix might as well live there, according to the adult on the farm.

This project could not have happened if it wasn't for Ragnhild Barsk Lindther. She is a multitalented film creator and a painter, with a dreamy, retro, layered aesthetic. It was easy and fun to work with her, as she always was open to new ideas and all my crazy inputs.

My friend SIOBAHN RAKNES dedicated a whole day in the water to play the nix. The final cut didn't include her face, but we decided that it was most effective to leave the nix a bit ambiguous.

The little girl is LEAH my bonus daughter. She did a great job, and had a blast the whole day.

Composer and sound designer KJELL BRAATEN recorded, mixed and produced NØKKEVATNET back in 2022, when the CD itself was under production. It is thanks to his unmatched skills with soundscapes and nature sounds, that this song turned out as magical as it did.
