Victor Mature was the first actor to wear the tag "hunk" and — had People Magazine been around in his day — would have been a likely contender for Sexiest Man Alive.

Victor Mature was a popular player in Hollywood's Golden era, and a native of Louisville. Mature died in 1999 and is buried in our city's St. Michael cemetery. But he's not forgotten—and we're following a move to honor Mature on the centennial of his birth and in his Louisville neighborhood.
