Hundreds of thousands of people are sitting in jail right now, accused but not convicted of a crime, just because they can’t afford to post bail. “They're presumed innocent but they're still in prison. Not because they're guilty, but because they're poor,” says Paul Butler, Georgetown Law professor, former Federal Prosecutor and author of ‘Chokehold.'
