What does it mean to have a dual-diagnosis? If you have a substance use disorder and a mental illness then you have a dual diagnosis. In this video I discuss the mental health and substance use connection. If you find you have anxiety (or another mental health disorder) and use alcohol to cope (or other substances), you likely meet the criteria for a dual diagnosis. When the two mental health disorders are treated together, you have greater success in maintaining changes. Substance use and substance misuse can be detrimental to your health and mental functioning but there is help for you!
