Time Soldiers (AKA "Battle Field" in Japan) is a classic run 'n gun arcade shooter that was developed by Alpha Denshi and published by Romstar in North America, and SNK in Japan.

Players took on the role of a military commando who's tasked with travelling back in time to rescue his comrades who've been captured by the evil entity known as Gylend.

The game's playstyle and graphics feel strikingly similar to other classic shooters of the same era; including Capcom's Gun Smoke and Commando games.

After defeating each boss, time warp scanners (D Scanners) appear. After entering the scanners, players are sent to a number of historical time periods. Those periods include The Age of Rome, The Age of War, The Future World, The World Wars, and The Primitive Age.

Players battled everything from Roman warriors, to dinosaurs, ninjas, and military troops throughout the course of the game.

While players started out with a single shot weapon, the game boasted numerous weapon upgrades, including a wide spread multi-shot, a laser, and Arrows, among others.

The game made use of an 8-way rotary joystick.

There were numerous ports of Time Soldiers outside of the arcades, including on the Sega Master System, Commodore Amiga/64, and the Atari ST.
