Digital Piano Duel - PIanoteq vs Truepianos

This is my favorite duel so far, we are putting two of the very best physical modelling VST software pianos up against each other in a shootout. The challengers today are MODARTT PIANOTEQ and 4FRONT TRUEPIANOS.

These pianos are fantastic because they do not use massive sample libraries, everything you hear is modelled in real time using algorithms. The advantage is they are lightweight and consume less resources than sample-based pianos. You can also adjust parameters on the fly to create new and interesting piano sounds.

We will be using a midi file from Purgatory Creek to do a fair and consistent test of the two instruments. Audio recorded direct to a Zoom H4N in CD quality, levels matched in Cockos Reaper and then uploaded to Youtube after adding visual effects. Reverb was disabled on each instrument.
