Agnikul's world record
Agnikul Cosmos, an Indian startup, has unveiled the world's largest single-piece 3D-printed rocket engine. The one-meter-long engine, which has no bolts, welds, or joints, was printed entirely in one go from Inconel, a high-performance superalloy. This new engine is a significant leap from the company's previous record-breaking design, as it's larger and more complex. Agnikul has automated the entire manufacturing process and holds a US patent for both the engine's design and its unique production method, marking a major milestone for the company and for Indian-origin technology in the global aerospace industry
India’s first commercial satellite network
In a landmark public-private partnership, IN-SPACe has selected a consortium of four Indian spacetech startups, led by Pixxel, to create the country’s first fully indigenous commercial Earth Observation satellite constellation. The other startups are PierSight Space, SatSure Analytics, and Dhruva Space.
Investing over ₹1,200 crore, the consortium will design, build, and operate a twelve-satellite constellation over the next five years. This advanced system, featuring a mix of optical and radar sensors, will provide real-time, actionable data for sectors like agriculture, climate monitoring, and national security. This initiative aims to reduce India's reliance on foreign satellite data and boost data sovereignty.
Theobroma acquired by ChrysCapital
Private equity firm ChrysCapital has acquired an 85% stake in the popular bakery chain Theobroma, in what is considered one of India's largest food service deals. While the official valuation isn't disclosed, reports suggest the deal is worth around ₹2,400 crore.
Backbay launch
Sisters Bhumi and Samiksha Pednekar have launched a new premium bottled water brand, Backbay, with a focus on sustainability. Their first product is Himalayan spring water sold in plant-based cartons. They've built their own manufacturing facility in Himachal Pradesh and plan to expand their beverage offerings.
