Replacing the alternator and alternator belt in a Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner requires a few steps. Here's a full description of the process:

Note: Before starting any work on your vehicle, make sure to disconnect the battery to prevent electrical accidents.

Tools you'll need:

Socket wrench set
Combination wrench set
Screwdrivers (flathead and Phillips)
Torque wrench
Belt tensioner tool (if required)
Step 1: Prepare the vehicle
Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake. Open the hood and locate the alternator, which is typically located near the front of the engine.

Step 2: Remove the alternator belt
Use a wrench or socket to loosen the tension on the alternator belt. If there's a belt tensioner, use the appropriate tool to relieve the tension. Slide the belt off the pulleys and remove it from the engine.

Step 3: Disconnect electrical connections
Locate the electrical connections on the back of the alternator. Depending on your vehicle, there may be one or more connections. Carefully disconnect all electrical connections by removing the connectors or screws holding them in place. Remember to note their positions for reassembly.

Step 4: Remove mounting bolts
Using a socket wrench or combination wrench, remove the mounting bolts that secure the alternator to the engine block. Typically, there are two or three bolts that need to be removed. Keep the bolts in a safe place.

Step 5: Remove the old alternator
Once the mounting bolts are removed, carefully lift the alternator out of its mounting bracket. Take note of its position and orientation for proper installation of the new alternator.

Step 6: Install the new alternator
Place the new alternator in the mounting bracket, aligning it correctly with the belt pulleys. Reinstall the mounting bolts and tighten them securely using a torque wrench according to the manufacturer's specifications.

Step 7: Reconnect electrical connections
Attach all the electrical connections to the new alternator in their original positions. Make sure they are securely fastened.

Step 8: Install the new alternator belt
Route the new alternator belt around the appropriate pulleys according to the belt routing diagram. Ensure it is properly aligned on each pulley and correctly tensioned. If necessary, use a belt tensioner tool to adjust the tension.

Step 9: Check belt tension
Press down on the middle of the alternator belt with moderate force. The belt should have around ½ to ¾ inch of deflection. Adjust the tension if needed.

Step 10: Double-check all connections
Before starting the engine, double-check that all connections are properly secured, including the electrical connections and mounting bolts.

Step 11: Reconnect the battery
Reconnect the battery by attaching the positive and negative terminals securely.

Step 12: Test the new alternator
Start the engine and check if the new alternator is charging correctly. Monitor the battery voltage using a multimeter or check the vehicle's dashboard for any warning lights. If the alternator is functioning properly, the voltage should be within the normal range (around 13.5 to 14.5 volts).

Congratulations! You have successfully replaced the alternator and alternator belt in your Citroen Berlingo or Peugeot Partner.
