The fight against the boss Ironclad in Chapter 13 on Hard Mode.

Ironclad: Unknown HP
Weakness: Lightning

After defeating the Red Dragon, the group become separated by one of the traps within the Temple of the Ancients. Cloud, Barret and Tifa continue to pursue The Turks while Aerith, Red XIII and Yuffie and left to find another way. Cloud, Barret and Tifa make their way across platforms being careful not to be blown away by strong Lifestream winds which they witness blowing away another group of Shinra Troopers. They come to a large gap in between platforms which they must fill with pieces of debris in order to cross. After successfully getting the first piece in place they find the second piece wedged at the top of a small tower. It is at this moment that they are confronted by an Ironclad with a huge sword. Barret has the idea to use the giant creature to destroy the tower for them and dislodge the debris piece on top but to do that, the group must first defeat the creature.

Ironclad is weak to lightning elemental attacks and attacks with very strong physical based strikes as well as fire elemental attacks. Equipping Elemental-Fire on a characters armour slot will nullify the damage from Firaga. The rest of Ironclad's attacks can be dodged so defending yourself should be fairly easy in this fight. Putting Elemental-Lightning materia combination on a characters weapon will increase the damage dealt but Thundaga works well too although if you are saving your MP for later on in the chapter then switching to Barret and using Steelskin, Lifesaver and Bonus Round then attacking with Overcharge and his normal attack from a distance is a safe strategy as well.

You are unable to Pressure the boss yourself in this fight but tthe boss will become Pressured automatically after it uses its Sharpen attack. At this point, his it with Focussed Thrust (Cloud), Focussed Shot (Barret) and Focussed Strike (Tifa) to drive up the Stagger gauge quickly. Once Staggered, hit it with Infinity's End from Cloud have use Tifa's special abilities to push up the damage % during the Stagger. Tifa can also use Limit Syphon to take Limit Charges from the other two characters and can spam her Meteor Shots Limit Break to deal big damage to the boss.

During phase two after the boss destroys the tower and releases the debris to complete the path, repeat the same strategy and it shouldn't take too long to finish the boss off. Just keep dodging Ironclad's attacks and you should be able to win this fight without taking much damage.
