Circuit Switching Definition:
A circuit switched network is made of a set of switches connected by physical links, in which each link is divided into n channel.

We need to emphasize several points here:
 Circuit switching takes place at the physical layer.
 Before communication stations reserve the resources.
 Data are not packetized; the data are a continuous flow.
 No need of addressing involved during data transfer.

Advantages of Circuit Switching:
o Dedicated. Communication channel.
o It has fixed bandwidth.
o It allows for infinite message lengths

Disadvantages of Circuit Switching:
o waste of bandwidth
o It takes a long time to establish a connection
o It is more expensive than other switching techniques
o In this case, the connection is dedicated therefore no other data can be transferred even if the channel is free.
