Inside The $150 Million Airbus A321XLR Plane

This is the Airbus A321XLR, the longest-range single-aisle aircraft ever built, capable of flying up to 4,700 nautical miles or 8,700 kilometers without refueling, a feat previously unthinkable for a narrow-body jet. As the world’s first narrow-body aircraft designed to fly transcontinental routes without compromise, the A321XLR can fly farther than some widebodies, marking the culmination of decades of Airbus innovation, beginning with the original A320 in the 1980s.
Building on the success of the A321neo and A321LR, Airbus introduced the A321XLR in 2019 to push the boundaries of what a single-aisle jet can achieve. By adding additional fuel tanks and optimizing aerodynamics, Airbus created a narrow-body aircraft that promises to replace widebodies on many long-haul routes.
The base purchase price for a new Airbus A321XLR is $150 million before options.
