It's worth noting that the word for "to cry" in Italian "piangere" (from "plango" in Latin, meaning originally beating your chest in sorrrow) is a cognate with the verb "плакать" in Russian. One would perhaps think that "pleurer" in French is related to "piangere", but it's not. Rather, "pleurer" derives from "ploro" in Latin, as does "llorar" in Spanish.
Both "plango" and "ploro" are synonyms to "fleo" (to cry, lament), which is the verb used in the Latin translation of Ecc. 3.4.
