A short story about The Clockmaker’s Secret

In a quiet old town, there lived a man named Mr. Adewale, the village clockmaker.
He was known for fixing every broken clock — from the smallest pocket watch to the giant bell clock in the town square.

But behind his gentle smile, Adewale carried a secret.
Years ago, he had built a special clock, unlike any other.
This clock could turn back one minute in time.
He kept it hidden in his shop, locked inside a glass case, and swore never to use it… unless it was truly needed.

One rainy afternoon, a little boy ran across the street chasing his kite —
and didn’t see a speeding carriage coming.
From his shop window, Adewale saw it all — and his heart froze.

Without hesitation, he turned the secret clock’s golden key backward once.
Time shimmered for a moment — the sound of the carriage faded —
and suddenly, the boy was safe again, still chasing his kite across the road.

When the villagers later asked how the boy survived, Adewale only smiled and said,

“Sometimes, one minute is all it takes to change a life.”



He never used the clock again.
But every night, he looked at it — and whispered,

“Thank you… for one more chance.”
