After we'd ringing, everyone was invited upstairs to have a play on the Ellacombe chimes, which proved to attract quite a few people up the tower. Some of us played tunes / hymns, whilst others (mainly me) had a go at chiming Triples methods that we didn't get to ring during the practice.

St Nic's is one of only a few towers in the district to have a functioning Ellacombe apparatus (and a pretty old one too), which is strangely upstairs in the clock chamber, rather than downstairs in the ringing chamber, although there is evidence that it once was down there. This also has to be the best Ellacombe that I've played, with an amazing action which only requires a flick of the rope.to chime the bells.
