Innovation Award
The Innovation Award recognizes outstanding researchers for a publication or an awarded patent that demonstrates innovation (discovery + implementation/impact). All publications/patents are evaluated on the following five criteria: discovery; influence of the findings in the field of research; demonstrated evidence that these findings will change or improve understanding; impact of the research on the lives of patients; and how the research supports Lawson's strategic vision.
The award recipient will receive $7,500, and his/her name engraved on a plaque displayed within Lawson.

2014 Recipient - Dr. Ting-Yim Lee
Dr. Ting-Yim Lee has achieved international recognition in his development of dynamic contrast enhanced CT scanning for the measurement of tissue perfusion and related hemodynamic parameters, in particular, the permeability of the blood-tissue barrier. This technology, called CT Perfusion, has seen broad clinical applications in both stroke and cancer around the world through successful licensing agreements with GE Healthcare. His research was recently highlighted by the Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) in their report on the socioeconomic impact of public investment in medical imaging. Western University has also nominated him for fellowship of the Royal Society of Canada based on his research accomplishments and ability to translate his research to clinical settings.
